The SoundsGuid CD Library

The CD Library is a NEW SoundsGuid Project.

Due to the dearth of Talks, Meetings and Conventions on Tape Format, then it would be uneconomic to transfer all of the Tape Library onto CD Format disks. Nevertheless, we have decided on a three pronged approach to the situation; that in the course of time;

 1. The more 'popular' tapes will be transferred onto CD.

 2. Where we receive requests by email and at Meetings and Conventions for a particular speaker then the request will be seriously considered as an adage to the CD Library.

 3. When an Organising Committee for a Meeting or Convention make a request that their event recordings be made available in CD Format.

 If ye didnae know - A wee note! - Mastering a CD is a lengthy business, as the tape is first recorded into a computer using as good a quality of Sound Card as is affordable and to be saved to Hard Disk as a .WAV file. This is done in real-time, then subjected to Editing and Hard Disk Sound Processing also in real-time. When it sounds ok, it is then Mastered onto a blank CD. If it sounds ok, then this disk is used as the 'Master' or backup copy, if not the whole procedure may have to be done again. The WAV file on the computer system is used by a CD Writer and its Software to make copies of the file. This takes a fair amount of time, for unless you have banks of Writers onto a computer or can afford to purchase hundreds of copies from a CD Duplication Company, then this is your option. On another level, CD labels, CD Covers and CD Liners have to be designed and printed - it all takes time!, but we are determined to build up the Library in this Format. We are also looking at the possibility of transferring files into .MP3 Format in order to offer our customers a Downloading option. .MP3 files can be compressed quite considerably. FREE SOFTWARE is available from winamp to run it. 14 CD's can be compressed onto 1 CD in this format but it can only be run from a CD-ROM and not a CD Player unlike an ordinary CD.
